Dream Dictionary
A dictionary from the Spellbook — symbols A–Z, and themes from Alphabet through Wedding.
The symbol list and themes follow the Dream Moods A–Z dictionary and theme pages. The readings here are written for the Spellbook. A symbol is a reading, not a prediction.
These are the symbols people look up most often: falling, teeth, flying, fire, and the other visitors that keep returning.
A
Adultery
An affair points to desire you have not expressed, or to a tangle that does not serve you. A partner straying names fear of being left or taken for granted.
Airplane
A plane means obstacles can be cleared and a plan is ready to lift, while one that never leaves the ground is a project that will not start. A crash means the goal was set too high, or you do not trust yourself to reach it.
B
C
Cat
A cat is independence, creativity, and a sharp feminine power, and it can also be deceit or bad luck. Aggression, a missing tail, or a dead cat points to that freedom being threatened or refused.
Crush
Crushing something is heavy stress over a decision; a crushed body is expression blocked. A crush on someone is real attraction, and a repeated dream of them may be the moment to say so or to move on.
D
Death
Your own death means an old way of living is ending so a new one can start. A loved one's death points to a quality they carry that is missing in you, or to a bond that has already changed.
Driving
Driving shows how you move through life. A road you cannot see means you lack a direction, and someone else at the wheel means you are following their aims instead of yours.
E
Ex-Boyfriend
An ex-boyfriend from early life recalls a lighter romance and a vitality missing now. Wanting him back may be that feeling, or simply the wish to be wanted again.
F
Falling
A fall that does not frighten you means you can handle adversity, while a frightening one means you feel unsupported or have missed a goal. Falling backward can mean you stopped yourself from a bad move.
Fire
Fire can mean passion, purification, or anger, and when it stays contained it marks an inner change. Burning you means temper is out of hand, and putting it out means obstacles can be worked through.
Flood
A flood means feeling or desire overwhelming you, or a wish to wash the slate clean. A house underwater means emotions are over the threshold, and a gentle flood means a worry will be carried off.
M
Mother
Your mother is the sheltering, guiding side of your own character; talk with her points to an unresolved matter, and news of her death is the feeling of being neglected by a maternal figure. Intimacy with her, kept symbolic, means her traits are showing up in you.
N
P
Paralyzed
Paralysis can be the body's stillness during sleep, and it also means you feel pinned and unable to change a waking situation. The freeze may be emotional, a feeling you cannot say.
See also Immobility.
Pregnant
Pregnancy is something in you still growing: an idea, a project, or a direction you are not yet willing to act on. If you are not seeking a child, it can be fear of new responsibility.
See also Birth or Belly.
S
Snake
A snake is a hidden fear that has not fully surfaced, and a warning about something you have not noticed yet. It can also be sexual temptation, or a person who cannot be trusted.
Spider
A spider is the feeling of being an outsider, or a wish to keep your distance from a tempting situation.
Spiders
Spiders, like one spider, mark the feeling of standing outside a group, or a wish to stay clear of temptation.
T
Teeth
Rotting teeth often follow words you should not have said. Sparkling ones match wishes that landed.
Tornado
A tornado is an outburst of anger and a bond or situation that could wreck things. Being inside one means too much is happening and you feel out of control.
W
Water
Water is your emotional state and the flow of inner life, plus healing and refreshment. Boiling water is turmoil coming out in words or acts.
