A letter can point to a person, a pun, or the first steps of learning something. Read the letter, then the feeling around it.

The letter A marks a fresh start or a move into something larger. It can also name someone's initial, or a feeling that you stand above other people.

The letter B plays on being, or on leaving a matter alone.

The letter C marks the ordinary middle, or the initial of someone you should notice. It can also be a nudge to look harder at what is already in view.

The letter D marks middling effort, or an open and cheerful mood. As a Roman numeral it can stand for five hundred.

The letter E means ease. It can also name the drug called ecstasy.

The letter F means failure. It can also stand in for a curse.

The letter G often puns on money, a fee, or a cost you have been dodging.

The letter H is cooperation, balance, and teamwork.

The letter I puns on yourself: time to focus there, or a warning that self-interest has gone too far. It also stands for action and responsibility.

The hooked shape of this letter is something you are meant to keep your grip on. It may also name a person called Jay, or anyone whose name begins with J.

The letter K reads as a quiet okay, a sense that things are acceptable. It may also name someone called Kay, or anyone whose name begins with K.

This letter can brand you a loser, or tell you to pause what you are doing. It can also be fear of saying love, so strong the word will not even form.

This letter is something you are keeping quiet, perhaps under a promise. It can also be a hunger for news, or the Roman numeral for one thousand.

The letter N marks the close of a habit, a journey, or a condition that has run long enough.

The letter O is a small gasp of surprise, or a mouth that needs to open and say the thing.

The letter V stands for a win, for getting through, or for calm. As a Roman figure it can equal five.

The letter X marks something forbidden, a block on what you want to do. On a treasure map, a large X means the goal is in sight and a reward is close.

The letter Z says you need more sleep.
